Achieving Spiritual Wellness in a Busy World
Spiritual wellness is a state of mind that allows us to maintain balance in our lives. We know when we are out of balance, but sometimes there are events that push us off our center even more than usual. A sense of spiritual wellness helps us to understand what we have done to put ourselves in a precarious position.
What is spiritual wellness?
Spiritual wellness is a sense of balance and wholeness. It's the ability to live in alignment with your inner truth, nourishing your soul through practices that bring you closer to being connected with the divine. For me, this means being in touch with my inner wisdom and living according to my values.
For others spiritual wellness may look different, but whatever it looks like for you—it will be something positive and purposeful.
How can we achieve a sense of spiritual wellness?
In order to achieve a sense of spiritual wellness, you must first develop the discipline to incorporate practices into your life that allow you to feel connected. For example, meditation is an excellent way to find inner peace and quiet because it allows us to focus on our thoughts and experiences without being distracted by outside noise or distractions. Practicing yoga gives us an opportunity for physical exercise that also helps us connect with our bodies in a new way—often improving our posture which leads to confidence and self-esteem boosts, which in turn makes us feel happier overall!
Another great practice is prayer: while many people pray at church or during religious services, there are also other ways we can pray throughout our day-to-day lives such as when listening attentively during a conversation with someone else or even just taking time out each morning before work begins so we can reflect upon how grateful we are for what we have already been blessed with thus far today."
How does spiritual wellness affect us?
Spiritual wellness is the state of being in which your sense of meaning and purpose are not based on how others see you or judge you, but instead comes from within. Spiritual wellness is about how we relate to ourselves, others, and the world around us.
It’s important to keep in mind that spiritual wellness isn’t about religion; rather it focuses on personal meaning and purpose as well as how we think about ourselves. Some people may feel that spirituality is only relevant when it comes to religion or faith-based practices—but this couldn't be further from the truth! A person can have no religious beliefs at all while still having a strong sense of spiritual wellbeing; they simply may not choose to express their spirituality through organized religion.
Another misconception about spirituality is that it only applies when someone has experienced something traumatic or life-threatening (such as an illness). However, many people experience stressors every day—things like financial struggles or relationship issues—that affect them spiritually even if they aren’t aware of what effects these stressors might have on their mental health overall (or even if they don't consider themselves "spiritual").
We need to maintain a sense of balance, particularly when our lives are out of balance.
When we are out of balance, our spiritual wellness is challenged. It’s easy to get caught up in the distractions and demands of daily life. We might find ourselves pushed in one direction or another by family obligations, work demands, and social media pressures. But when we are balanced internally—when we have a sense of peace within ourselves—it helps us to stay focused on what matters most: how we treat ourselves and others.
The goal of spiritual wellness is not about religion or beliefs; it’s about aligning ourselves with the rhythms of nature so that our lives reflect those natural cycles. For example, there are times during the year when it feels like life gets stressful: winter holidays often bring more obligations than usual; spring brings new projects at work; summer vacations may feel rushed because you’re trying to squeeze them into your busy schedule! These periods can be stressful because they go against our natural rhythms (think hibernation season). When this happens repeatedly throughout the year (or even several times per year), it can lead to burnout and poor health due to chronic stress.*

We cannot ignore the spiritual aspect of our lives. We need to take care of ourselves by taking time to reflect on our past, celebrate what we have accomplished, and look forward to the future. By doing so, we will feel more balanced and grounded in today's busy world.
